Broken Pieces

Who Can Tell

Copyright 2006.

Written for an Advent Story project I'm working on. This song is from the perspective of a little girl in Roman times who is worried about many things. It's a fun kids song, but it also teaches us that God loves us and that He controls all those things we worry about.

Lyrics

Verse 1:
I am worried about what tomorrow may bring
There's so many unknown uncontrollable things
Are my clothes warm enough, do I have enough food?
Will my Mom have a bad attitude?
Will the Romans get mad and just chop us to bits?
Will they throw us in chains, or in one of their pits?
Will I trip on a root and fall down the well?
I'm a worry wart, but who can tell?

Chorus (twice):
Who can tell what is coming around the bend?
Well, it could be ok, but it could be the end!
It might be an enemy, it might be a friend
Who can tell what lies around the bend?

Verse 2:
Well, this family I met, Mary, Jesus, and Joe
Have a peace greater than all the worry I know
And the lions, the tigers, the wolves and the bears
Didn't scare them, like they hadn't a care!
Or the fires, the floods, or the storms or earthquakes
Or the rats or the lizards, the spiders and snakes.
And I asked Mary why she just wasn't afraid,
And she said that when she was, she prayed.

Chorus: (twice)
God can tell what is coming around the bend
It will all be ok, even if it's the end
For He's loved me forever, and He's called me His friend
And He knows what lies around the bend!
